Road conditions becoming dangerous.

As of 15:00, Wisconsin State Patrol is urging drivers to stay off the roads.

WI-DOT alerts can be found (here).

A map showing Wisconsin Winter Road Conditions can be found (here).

And (below) a picture of the road leading to Maple Hill this afternoon. Snow-covered and beginning to drift.

  1. I don't blame them for telling people to avoid travel Today...Roads are pretty bad, and the visibility is fairly low in spots. Still snowing here in Duluth, seeing a narrow lake enhanced snow band since 3 PM here in the city thanks to a NE wind. Looks like were closing in on 4".

  2. I'm hearing comments that US-2 between Duluth and Ironwood is getting pretty bad. If the winds pick up enough there might be some closures tonight.

US-2 at Fish Creek Slough (the head of Chequamegon Bay) always turns into a whiteout when winds come down the bay.

I've goten 3.5" so far here, some blowing and drifting. Hope everyone either stays home or drives with caution!!
