I was surprised to see some bright color on the edge of the lawn, and with a closer look found two fully open daffodils (to the right). It looks like more are getting ready to open, while some are still just sprouting from the ground. I might have bright yellow flowers throughout May.
Today was more pleasant than the last several days. Yesterday's high was 39.6 degrees, today was 52.8. Tomorrow will be quiet too but it looks like a cold wind off Lake Superior will develop by tomorrow afternoon and last through the weekend. Inland areas will likely see lighter winds and therefore warmer temperatures. The joys of living next to a big refrigerator!!

ReplyDeleteNow that is good. HA! That living next to the big refrigerator sure feels good during those hot dawg days of Summer though, I bet. Micro climates!
I wish this weekends forecast was a bit more conducive to the sport of golf... unfortunately it's not looking so good. We may have an active late week and weekend for observing...

ReplyDeleteI should be writing this down!
For serious!
ReplyDeleteToday's forecast high temps and winds:
Bayfield: 37 with E winds 10-20 g 25
my spot: 42 with NE winds 5-15 g 25
Park Falls: 54 with SE winds 5-10
Oshkosh: 56 with S winds 7-11
Waukesha: 57 with S winds 10-15
The effect usually lasts through June or early July, but while it might sound nice on a hot day, it's not. Occasionally it can be near 90 inland and in the 50s lakeside. No thank you!!
The only time it's nice is the autumn when our frosts can be delayed. This is why the area outside Bayfield has apple and blueberry orchards. Even a yummy winery :)
My forecast is a wee bit off the NWS forecast!
ReplyDeleteMy forecast calls for a high of 53......
