Christmas Day fatal accident on US-2

In my last post on Christmas Day I mentioned a report from the W-DOT of an accident that closed both lanes of Highway US-2 east of Ashland.

I created a quick map of the accident location and temperatures in the area at the time of the accident. Lake-effect snows were impacting the high terrain of Ashland and Iron counties, but snow showers were lighter in the lower terrain along the lakeshore.

This is the article I pulled from Ashland Current:

Investigation Of Fatal Accident Continues

[UPDATED] Investigation continues after a fatal Christmas Day accident on the Bad River Reservation in the Town of Sanborn.

A head-on automobile accident killed the drivers of two vehicles traveling in opposite directions and left a passenger with serious injuries.

Authorities reported the accident occurring at 3:23 p.m. Those killed were Courtney Greene, 22, and William Jones, 21, both of Odanah. 32-year-old Tracy Bigboy, also of Odanah, was Green’s passenger and was treated and released from a hospital.

This is probably the worst time to have an accident. What's really worst is that the accident claimed both the driver's lives. Two families are definitely grieving at a supposed to be jolliest time of the year.
