I absolutely love these cams. My step-father and family have them on the 160 acres in Antigo. Many bear, deer, fishers... etc. Thanks for sharing these, N, they are awesome!! It's fun to know you have all that wildlife in your backyard, right?! Down here in the "city" we only got rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and birds... oh wait... maybe a stray cat once and a while. :)
I heard from my uncle we have Coyotes right here in Clayton! near my house even, I have never seen them though, you baited up that deer! I would not want that deer in my front yard... I have Cedar they would love to munch on!
Hahahaha! I only used some squash that froze in the garden as bait, we wanted to get an idea of how many deer were around. There are many that hang around my yard year-round, a little squash for the camera was no big deal. They're like mosquitoes... there is a reason the vegetable garden is fenced in with six foot fencing.
Most places (except towns and cities) have coyotes hanging around. They're the top of the food chain in most areas of the state. It's rare to get a picture of a coyote, and even rarer to actually see one. They're very secretive and cautious of humans.
Of course, wolves trump the coyotes where the wolves have returned to Wisconsin. There is a radio-collared pack of wolves around Maple Hill and I occasionally hear them howl, but I really wanted to get one on trail cam. :( Maybe next time.
Glad you liked the pics, J! I like seeing what calls this place home.
Last winter we had several chipmunks that would vacuum all the fallen seed from below the bird feeder, haven't seen a single one this winter. Perhaps the fisher is keeping a full tummy.
