Recent rain... yes; drought finished... not even.

I will be out of town the next few days, but before I go I want to discuss the Daily Weather Story posted by the National Weather Service Office in Duluth for today.

The point is, even after some rain the past two days, the drought hasn't changed. The rainfall deficit we have is so much that it will take much more to rescue us.

The map to the right shows two drought categories: Severe and Extreme. Northern Bayfield County (where I am), all of Douglas County (almost including Superior), and the cities of Ashland and Hurley/Ironwood, fall in the Extreme category.
